Uniqlo Japan desires to be the world's largest clothing retailer brand

In the morning of 16th, sep,2011 Beijing Time, According to foreign reports,Uniqlo, Japan leisure clothing brand,His parent company Fast Retailing Co published the ambitious global expand plan. It desires to catch up and surpass GAP, USA Zara,Spain and other competitors and become the biggest retailer of clothes brand in the world finally.

Fast retailing Co CEO Tadashi Yanai in news conference said, our company plan to open 200-300 new stores outside Japan market in next 3 years.

As biggest clothing retailer in Japan, Fast Retailing Co plans to focus on opening new stores in emerging markets in Asia: to open 100 new stores in China every year, 50 new stores in South Korea, 30 in Taiwan, and only 20 in the U.S. and European markets each year.

The group expect that the number of middle-income consumers in Asia will grow from 1 billion to 2 billion in the next 10 years. The group is also considering to open new stores in India, Australia, New Zealand and South America.

It is reported that Japan’s Fast Retailing Group has a total of 840 Uniqlo stores at present, and 180 stores in other regions. The Group believe that the rapid overseas expansion will be the key of Uniqlo growth.

The group said it plans to achieve 1.7 trillion yen (about $ 22 billion) in sales by August 2015 fiscal year, and intends to achieve 5 trillion yen in sales by August 2020 fiscal year and expect to reach 1 trillion yen in sales in the current fiscal year.

The group said from August 2016 fiscal year on, each new store will contribute about 2 trillion yen in annual sales. Fast Retailing is still expected to exceed the total store number of competitors, was promoted to the world’s largest clothing retailer.

It is reported that the world’s largest clothing retailer – the Spanish brand Zara’s parent company Inditex SA own over 5,000 stores in 78 countries at present;and The US brand Gap own over 3,200 stores in the world.

Fast retailing Co CEO Tadashi Yanai said last week, our company plans to open at least 100 Uniqlo stores in Asia market outside Japan in the current fiscal year.
